Volunteer Positions

To volunteer for any of these positions, select the position box when you register your child, or email us. Board positions are elected by Board.

At least one coach is required for every team NRASL organizes.  Coaches are responsible for planning and running practices plus organizing their teams for games.  Our coaches are provided a training curriculum.  Additionally, our Director of Coaching provides clinics for our coaches.  NRASL provides opportunities for coaches to obtain various levels of training.  We will help you advance your skills as you move up the age group levels with the children.  Patience and an ability to work with kids are highly recommended attributes for anyone interested in coaching.

Assistant Coach

This position is fairly obvious.  Asst. Coaches help the Coach as needed with the training and running of a specific team.  We aim to fill each team with an assistant coach.  .

Team Parent

Team Parents assist the coaches with the administrative aspects of a team.  Duties of a team parent may include creating and overseeing the snack schedule, organizing any team parties or season ending awards events, or simple helping the coach communicate with the teams parents and players.

Referees are the only "volunteers" within NRASL who actually get paid.  Training classes are usually held periodically and we are always interested in new refs.  Referees must be at least 12 years of age prior to the start of the season. Referees are responsible for ensuring games are safe and fair.   At the younger age levels (U10 and below), NRASL also uses referees to assist the young players in learning the Laws of the Game of Soccer.
Field Preparation
No this does NOT mean push a mower!  Anyone volunteering to assist with Field Preparation will work with the NRASL Field Manager to do such things as move goals, replace worn goal nets, coordinate with the various municipal authorities involved to ensure trash receptacles are in place or removed, coordinate with our lining crews and our landscaper/mowers on any special requests.  Generally this position helps to ensure that are fields are in playing condition before the players arrive.

Board Member

NRASL is an entirely volunteer run organization.  The NRASL Board of Directors meets once a month for a general meeting (which is always open to the public) and various committees meet as needed to grapple with specific issues.

One of the most vital board responsibilities is to create the schedules, distribute the equipment and oversee the general smooth operation of each of our various programs.  If you want a hand in how your child's soccer experience evolves, this is where you should sign up!
