NRASL In House Development Soccer Program

The In-House Development Program is committed to instructing children of all abilities in the sport of soccer in and around North Ridgeville. The primary goal of this program is to instill a love and knowledge of soccer. We strive to create a fun environment where our children have the opportunity to develop skills, learn sportsmanship and engage in friendly competition.

The In-House Development Program is for children of all skill levels beginning at age 4 (Pre-K) and continuing through middle school age. Teams are set up based on age. U5 and U6 ages are conducted in an "Academy" format and are coed.  The boys and girls are separated in the U7/U8 boys and U7/U8 girls academies.  This gender separation continues U9 thru U11. U12 thru U14 ages are typically coed.

U5 and U6 Academy Programs:

Players are assigned to teams of approximately 10 players with volunteer parent coaches.  Each Thursday, the players participate in a training session from the progressive development curriculum.  At this age the curriculum is comprised of soccer-based games where each player is engaged with their own ball and challenged to give maximum effort at their own pace.  The lesson is executed by the volunteer coach with direction and supervision from Force Soccer Academy (FSA) coaches.  On Saturday mornings, the curriculum continues with further instruction followed by a transition to the soccer fields for small sided games with players from the other academy teams.

Advantages of the Academy Programs:
Kids love it!  The children have a great time playing in this format and leave the field exhausted.

  1. More touches on the ball.  The most important thing for children at this age is to develop their foot skills.  This program will dramatically increase the amount of time they are moving and touching the ball.
  2. All the children are learning the same thing.  Coaches are instructing from the same curriculum.
  3. Players have the chance to demonstrate the skills they’ve learned during fast-paced, small-sided games.
  4. This program is a great teaching tool to help develop coaches.  This program is a great way for new coaches to get started.  The coaches are well supported by the planned sessions and pro coaches’ guidance.

U7/U8 Boys and U7/U8 Girls Academy Programs:

Much like the U5 and U6 Academies, players are assigned to teams of approximately 10 players with volunteer parent coaches.  Each Thursday, the players participate in a training session from the progressive development curriculum.  Many of the training sessions are game based but with an increased focus on proper technique.  Players are provided greater challenges to focus their efforts.  The lesson is executed by the volunteer coach with direction and supervision from Force Soccer Academy (FSA) coaches.  On Saturday mornings, the players play a scheduled game against other academy teams.  The games are administered by youth referees.  As with all In-House programs, scores and standings are not recorded as the emphasis is on development with a focus on execution of the week’s lessons.
