North Ridgeville Amateur Soccer League

North Ridgeville Select

NRASL has worked to build an effective curriculum for its competitive players.  Through the hard work of our coaches, trainers, and players along with the commitment from our NRASL families, we’ve made great strides in our travel program.  We’ve reached the point where each age group, boys and girls, has successful teams with plenty of talent to compete at a high level.  Many of our travel players now play from August to June.

After meaningful feedback from our families and thorough analysis of our organization, NRASL is proud to present
North Ridgeville Select.  This program is a comprehensive, 10-month program geared for our most driven and competitive players.   Our first-ever Select Team was formed in 2013 (U10 boys pictured below) and has continued to develop at a rapid pace. Many of these boys are participating in our NRS HS Prep team, preparing for high school play in 2018-19.  Today, all travel teams work under the Select model.

How is NR Select different from the previous travel program?

Previously, our travel players are coached by an OYSAN-trained volunteer parent under the guidance of our Director of Coaching (DOC) with assistance from our technical directors.  The NR Select program provides professional coaching under DOC direction for the entire season.  The Select players also have available a winter training program that includes pro training upto two sessions weekly and (2) sessions of indoor games at Force Indoor Sports in Rocky River.  The team also participates in a few tournaments throughout the year.

How is the NR Select different from other premier clubs?

Each premier club has its own identity and environment.  Because we’re growing our program from our youngest players, NR Select is a program that is appropriate in cost and commitment for these young players.  NR Select will evolve with the development of the players as they progress to the older ages.  At this point NR Select teams compete largely against community-based teams for regular season play but may play in the OYSAN State League if appropriate.

What is the cost of the program?

Competitive players that take advantage of all of our offerings currently spend $500-$650 throughout the year on registration dues, winter indoor training, indoor game sessions and tournaments.  The cost of the NR Select program will be $400 for the year, payable in full or $200 per season.  The NR Cornfest Kickoff tournament is free of charge but other tournaments will be priced separately.  Tournament costs may be offset through team fundraising.

Why choose the NR Select over premier clubs?

NR Select offers a unique set of advantages over traditional premier clubs.  Typical premier club players pay significantly higher prices and travel longer distances to practices and games.  The NR Select program offers our most driven players the opportunity to train at home and play at home at a reduced fee.  We are able to offer this program at such a competitive cost because unlike most premier clubs, NRASL is a non-profit entity.  Further, NRASL is large enough to take advantage of scaled pricing and has developed strong relationships with professional trainers to support this new venture.

Have other community programs evolved to include similar training?

Currently there a number of Cleveland-area communities following this model.  Shaker Heights, Brecksville, Willoughby, and Mentor currently provide a similar program and have developed teams that compete in the OYSAN State League with traditional premier clubs.

How should a player proceed to be considered for the NR Select?

Interested players should complete the registration application for the 2018-19 Travel/Select. New players must contact the appropriate technical director to arrange a tryout with a current team. Click on Travel Soccer Tryouts for more information.
