WELCOME TO TRAVEL SOCCER

The NRASL Travel Soccer program is designed for and committed to providing a higher level of training and competition for those players that have a desire to develop their skills beyond that which is available at the recreational level. While we are an integral part of this community-based organization, North Ridgeville Travel Soccer  requires more significant parental and player commitment, with the goal of providing a more instructive and competitive atmosphere than In-House Soccer.

NRASL Travel teams, ranging from U-9 through U-14 compete, at a skilled level, with similar teams from other communities, generally within a 40 mile radius of North Ridgeville. The teams may compete in tournaments each season as the team so desires. Practices are generally 1 - 2  hour sessions held 2 to 3 times per week, depending on age and level of play. Games are played mostly on Sunday afternoons. Each session (fall and spring) has a 8 game schedule, with 4 games at “home” and 4 “away”.  Commitment must be made to the team for 1 full season which is equivalent to both Fall and Spring sessions combined.

Travel soccer offers a more intensive skills training program designed to advance the development of our players to be successfull at the High School level. Travel players receive 1 hour of foot skill training per week from Premier league soccer professionals – the cost of these skill-intensive sessions are included in the basic fees for Travel Soccer.
HOW ARE TEAMS SELECTED?
Each spring, before the end of May, open tryouts are held for any child between the ages of 8 and 14 living or attending school in North Ridgeville.  Evaluations will be made by some of the following:
Professional/ High School/College and other city Travel Coaches

The evaluation scores help determine the teams at each age level. The coaches will then form the teams with the approval of the Travel Director.

WHAT AGES DO CHILDREN START PLAYING TRAVEL SOCCER?
Children usually start in THIRD grade depending on their date of birth. However,
the program is always looking for interested players at almost every age group. Teams
play together through their eighth grade year and new players are always welcome.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY ?
The cost is determined by the league commitment fees, referees, and field prep. This
fee is usually more than what it costs to play in house. Each player is asked to purchase their own uniforms. The uniforms are decided by the board and ordered by coaches.
WHO COACHES THE TEAMS?
Coaches are selected by the North Ridgeville Amateur Soccer League and are usually parents with prior coaching experience at the in-house and travel level. All coaches must possess a coaching license from the United States Youth Soccer Association which is issued only after the candidate completes the mandated hours of classroom and on-the-field training. This is a must in the travel leagues to be on the sidelines.
